QR code for a phone call

Enter the number — a person points the camera and the phone offers to call right away.
Fill in the fields — the code appears instantly

A QR code for a call encodes the phone number in the tel: format (the RFC 3966 standard). A person points the camera and the phone opens the dialer with the number already entered, ready to call. No manual entry, no typos.

What to fill in

One field — the phone number. Write it in international format, with a plus and country code: +7 495 000-00-00. That way the code works for local and foreign clients alike.

Where it is used

  • Shop window and sign. A passer-by calls with one tap, without copying the number.
  • Ad and leaflet. The code speeds up the first contact.
  • Packaging and receipt. The code leads to support without hunting for a number.
  • Business card and badge. A quick call to a new contact.

What to keep in mind

Most phones open the dialer after scanning and wait for confirmation — the call does not start on its own. Some scanners just show the number: that is fine, the person taps "Call" manually. Messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram) need a different code — by a link, not tel:.

How to check

  1. Scan the code on iPhone and Android — the dialer with your number should open.
  2. Check that the number filled in fully, with the country code.
  3. Print the code dark on light, with margins, as a 1024-pixel PNG or SVG.

Add a "Call us" caption and a logo so the code's purpose is clear.

A call or a message

A tel: code leads to a voice call only. If you need a WhatsApp or Telegram chat, make a code by a link (wa.me or t.me). For a text message use the "SMS" type — it opens the messaging app with the number and text ready.
