QR code for payment by bank details
A QR code by bank details encodes payment data in the Russian standard GOST R 56042 (the ST00012 format): the payee, account number, bank, BIC, correspondent account, purpose and amount. The client points the camera in a banking app, sees a pre-filled payment order and just confirms the transfer. No manual entry, no mistyped digits.
Who it suits
- Sole traders and companies that accept payments to a bank account
- HOAs and management companies — for utility bills
- Anyone who invoices individuals and businesses by bank transfer
The code is read by banking apps — Sberbank Online, T-Bank, VTB, Alfa and others — and by self-service terminals.
What to fill in
Required fields per the standard:
- Payee — the company or sole trader name
- Account number — 20 digits
- Bank, BIC (9 digits) and correspondent account (20 digits)
- Payment purpose — what the payment is for
Enter the amount in rubles, for example "1 500.00". The code stores it in kopecks as an integer, as the standard requires. Add the INN and KPP when you pay a business or the budget.
Bank details, not SBP
Do not confuse two different codes:
- A code by bank details (this page) — a static code with bank details. You can make it in any generator and print it. The payment goes as a regular account transfer.
- An SBP code — a dynamic code with a unique amount per purchase. Only an acquiring bank issues it through its gateway. You cannot make such a code in a browser.
If your payment provider takes the money instead of a bank order, make a code by a link to the invoice or payment form.
Utilities, taxes and fines
For utilities put the personal account number in the payment purpose; for taxes and fines add the UIN or the order number. That way the money reaches the right charge without disputes.
How to check
- Scan the code in your banking app.
- Verify the payee, account and amount on the transfer form.
- Print the code at 1024 pixels or in SVG, with margins and no color inversion.
Add a logo and brand colors — a code on an invoice, receipt or shop window looks more trustworthy.
A fill-in example
To pay a service for Acme LLC: payee — Acme LLC, account number — 20 digits, BIC — 9 digits (the bank and correspondent account fill in from it), purpose — "Payment for invoice No. 12 dated 01.07.2026", amount — 1 500.00. Take the INN and KPP from the company card.
If the code does not open
Check that the account and correspondent account are 20 digits each and the BIC is 9. Some banks reject an over-long purpose — keep it within 210 characters. If the app does not recognize the code, update it to the latest version and make sure the bank can read a details-based QR at all — not every terminal supports it.
