QR code for an email
A QR code for an email opens the mail app with a ready message: the recipient address, subject and body. A person points the camera, the mail app shows the pre-filled email, and all that is left is to tap "Send". Inside the code is a mailto: link that iPhone and Android understand.
What to fill in
- To — the recipient address (required)
- Subject — for example, "Website inquiry"
- Message — a draft the person completes or sends as is
You can leave the subject and text empty — then a blank email to your address opens.
Where it is used
- Feedback. A code on a card, flyer or stand — a client writes to you without typing the address.
- Requests and orders. A ready subject helps sort your inbox.
- Support. A code on packaging or in a manual opens an email with the right subject.
What to keep in mind
The code opens the mail client on the phone, it does not send the email itself — the person sees the text and decides whether to send. That is honest and does not look like spam. If no mail is set up, the system offers to pick an app.
How to check
- Scan the code on iPhone and Android — an email to your address should open.
- Check that the subject and text filled in without garbled characters.
- Print the code dark on light, with margins, as a 1024-pixel PNG or SVG.
Add a "Write to us" caption and a logo so the person knows what to do.
Subject and text without errors
Cyrillic in the subject and body is encoded, so a long email makes the code heavier. Keep the draft short and let the person add the details. After scanning, check that the text reads without garbled characters — that depends on the mail app on the phone.
