What the relevant pages tool shows

For every query a search engine decides on its own which page of your site to show. The tool narrows the results down to your domain — with the site: operator in both Yandex and Google — and takes the first result. That page is the one the search engine considers the best match for the query.

Unlike a rank check, you get an answer even when the site is nowhere near the top: the search engine still has a most relevant page, as long as the domain is indexed for that topic.

Why it matters

  • Know what to optimize. If the search engine picks a page other than the one you optimized, your work misses the target.
  • Spot cannibalization. When close queries return different URLs, those pages compete with each other and split the traffic.
  • Check structure and internal links. An unexpected page in the answer often means the page you wanted is weaker linked or covers the topic worse.
